This application provides comprehensive offline topographic maps of Great Britain, pre-installed within the app itself. No additional downloads, account registrations, or ongoing subscriptions are necessary. Users can seamlessly pan and zoom across the entire country at an effective resolution approximating 1:25,000, making it highly suitable for outdoor activities such as walking, running, hunting, fishing, and cycling, particularly in remote areas with limited mobile coverage.

It is important to note that the app's installation size is substantial (approximately 4GB), requiring sufficient storage space on your device.

GBTopoMap offers full navigation functionality, including route planning, track recording, navigation to specific points, and following established routes. The app contains over 300,000 built-in locations and landmarks. Users can import or share files directly from any preferred source or channel. Map data are derived from Ordnance Survey VectorMap District and terrain data featuring 10-meter contour intervals, complemented by OpenStreetMap data on accessible ways. Once the app is downloaded and installed from the App Store, maps are fully stored on the device. Periodic updates are provided through standard app version updates via the App Store.

The app integrates well with popular British websites that describe local walks and activities. It supports direct import of .gpx or .kml track files by simply clicking on links.

Designed specifically for use with the British National Grid system, the app does not rely on the less accurate WGS84 global approximation. Interface controls are conveniently located at the bottom of the screen for one-handed operation without shifting grip. Information displays are optimized towards the top of the screen. All essential features are accessible via single taps from the main interface, minimizing nested menu layers for ease of use.

The application operates independently without requiring user accounts or personal contact information. While we welcome questions and suggestions—accessible through our online guides—there are no unsolicited messages or rating requests from us.

Please be aware that utilizing GPS functions increases battery consumption; continuous use will drain your device's battery more rapidly. GPS positioning can be toggled on or off with a single tap to manage power usage effectively.

Tip of the day: For accurate compass calibration, perform a 'figure of 8' motion as demonstrated in various tutorials. This simple calibration routine enhances compass reliability during navigation.
